With rest, comes renewal.

When we enter into God’s rest, we will experience the renewal of our spirit. My weeks had been anything but peaceful. Massive workloads, both physically and emotionally straining. Those close around had gotten it pretty bad from me.

On Wednesday, I had a spiritual retreat, resting by physical body and spending unrush time with God. It weren’t easy to be still before God when I feel that there is 101 things on my to do list. It didn’t help also that I had been frustrated over certain struggles and insecurities that my choleric nature simply refuse to let go. Not to mention melancholy plunge to a all time low coupled with very unpleasant cirucumstances. However, I choose to seek God.
I ended my night, walking home from work, asking God, “Am I very irritating? Do you still want to talk to me?”
His reply was “sometimes…but Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you”

After a huge ranting session… I always feel like a immature kid. Coz whenever I rant to God, he expands my view, mature my thoughts. He is someone whom I don’t have to worry whether the things that I share, he can “take it” or not. Haha… He is perfect, wise and patient. The best ranting partner!

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”2 Corinthians 4:16-17

v16 is prolly rather famous, but I am intrigued and encourage by v17, coz I am reminded that the challenging circumstances are just tests for me to achieve the real prize at the end of the day. The greater the test, the more and better things I will be entrusted with! =)

“Same power that conquer the grave
lives in me.
Your love that rescue the earth
lives in me.” Hillsong London – you are here

The spirit that renews us daily is the same spirit that has the power to conquer death, it’s this spirit that reside in us. This same spirit has the love that rescue the earth from all it’s sin. Having, understood this, I don’t think there is any mountain too tall or anyone too hard to love.

“I’m reminded that the action of those in power have enormous consequences- a price that they themselves almost never have to pay.” Barack Obama – The Audacity of Hope

I would define power as the ability to do something

As a christian, I know God has given me the power to overcome sins.

That means that I can overcome my negative emotions, my laziness even my personality. Doesn’t mean that if I am a melancholy, I need always indulge in my own world and thoughts. Doesn’t mean that if I am choleric I need to allow achievement to be everything in my life.

As a christian leader, I know God has give me the power to speak truth to his flock and lead them in his way (not mine). I can choose to lead people to me or God. I can “sabotage” my people’s prospects by making certain decisions. But of coz, by doing so, I will not come to a good end >.<

No wonder, spider man’s uncle say, “with great power, comes great responsibility”. Truth being, power is given to all of us in every arena, should we choose to misuse, we need to bear the consequences sometimes far greater than what we can bare.

Worse still, should we choose to be powerless, we lose our birthright.

There is nothing truly great about power if it’s not use according to God’s purpose, for “ In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

My application point is that, I want to spend time with God everyday so that I am aware that I am using his power the right way.
