Next, dark rings subtly forming…

And last but not least the pimples’ slow entrance…

Am I like being stress over my studies and project?

Me against the World.

November 19, 2008

Me God and me against the World.

In lecture today, I realise how human technology had advance over the years and we are surging forward for much more improvement. Tomorrow’s technology will be better than today’s technology, there’s no resting, only constant improvement. The question was, what’s next for tv now that we have HD TV. Someone suggested, hologram? You get to see life sizes moving before you.

But I was thinking to myself, you want so “life size”, so real for what?

We put in so much effort in improving our technology but how about our humanity?

Too much time on hardware, too little on heartware.

My conversation with God today revolve around what is the balance between being relevant and worded.

The verse he gave me via Gideon is “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans2:2

No matter how “relevant” I want to be, engaging the world, I need to first be worded.

At the end of the day, God created heaven and earth, surely, there is no one who will know what is more relevant than the creator himself, aint it?

=)

On a personal note, I am reminded today that part of maturity is in accepting reality and embracing possibilities with a gracious heart.

I am refreshed by God everyday. Because I choose to be.

Last but not least, sharing the vid below….

I AM SUCH A SUCKER FOR PIANO BALLADS, especially when they are cute =)

NIGHT WORLD!

One after another.

November 16, 2008

I wanted to post this from Stevenfurtick.com and saw this instead.

It wasn’t a easy week for me as I sought to find a balance between thoughts for ministry and my personal life.

So many areas God had been probing me to take action.

From project assignments, exam preparations, plannings for the group to work and other miscellaneous stuff.

Against the many tasks that needs to be completed the one thing I really hate to confront is that, which gotta do with some from that miscellaneous list. I would have just shelve it aside, should not I had been asked difficult questions.

God why?

My resolutions had been made, why is my heart still tingling with a sense of incompleteness? I think I am very tired already. Can I not confront this. Pls.

The maths

November 12, 2008

1 class: 35 students
1 cohort: 8 classes X 35 students = 280 students
4 cohorts + 2 classes of secondary five students = 1190 students
163 high schools = 193 970
16 Junior Collages: 16 X 1000 (a safe number) = 16 000
Total youths in Singapore: 209 970

*this is a conservative average gauge. There could be more.

1 yhope = 750 students

750/209 970X 100 = 0.36%

We are 0.36% of the entire youth (high school/jc) in Singapore.

CG 08 – 1 community in every school.

1 community – 1 cg = 10 students.

179 schools – 179 community = 179x 10 = 1790 students

1790-750= 1040

Out of 209 970 students is it that hard to impact and influence another 1040 souls?

Some of my thoughts.

I think even with the 1790 students, we are still a small portion to the generation of youth out there.

But I think there is an urgency to win these 1040 souls.

“He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”Luke 10:2

Juxtaposing the numbers with this verse, I truly understand it. We are a mere 0.36% of the generation, but we are called to influence. It’s a massive project but my heart beats with excitement because I know I am not alone.

If God can use the smallest person from the smallest tribe in Israel to defeat the enemies, I think God can definitely use yhope. Like come on, we are a bunch of happening people with so much different giftings and talents! CG08 can be completed with 100% of yhope and 100% of God. I am proud to be part of CG08. Thank you God, for giving me a chance to be part of a legacy.

We will be God’s hand and feet to bring upon solutions to every suffering, every insecurity, every wrong that should be right.

God is the solution.

*Edit…shortly after I wrote this post I received at email I thought I would like to share with you all. (of coz with permission from the author. hehs)

I just finished spending quiet time and this was my thanksgiving and prayer:
Thank you for the meet up chantel and myself had tonight. I truly appreciate and treasure this friendship we share and I pray for you to always be in the center of our friendship. Help us to grow each other and use us to open up to blind spots in our lives. God, I am amazed at the things we share and the things we talk about. Who would have thought of comparing the population of youth in Singapore to Hope’s youth except you who put this thought into us? Let our fellowship be wholesome; one that builds and pick each other up.

and when I was reading a passage in ephesians, I came across this:
Ephesians 3:29
29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

quote Lee JiaYi
When two comes together, it’s often easy to be self absorbed and things as such. But I pray for God to be in the center of all my friendships. I could see How God is with us and in our conversation as we catch up over starbucks and chips. I am refreshed too.
